NHA BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS APPOINT LEVON HENRY AS INTERIM CEO - 10-30-24

FT. DEFIANCE, Ariz.—The Navajo Housing Authority Board of Commissioners appointed Lavon Henry as interim CEO Oct. 30.

Henry was previously serving as general counsel for NHA.

The announcement was made late in the afternoon Oct. 30 to employees through an email that featured a letter from Tammy E. Yazzie, NHA Board of Commissioners Chairwoman.

“The NHA Board of Commissioners would first like to extend our gratitude to CEO Heather L. Duncan-Etsitty, for her guidance and stewardship of NHA over the past year,” she stated. “Ms. Duncan-Etsitty brought meaningful change to the NHA operation and made measurable progress in housing opportunities for our Navajo people.”

Yazzie went on to state that the BOC believes NHA can find innovative and strategic means of meeting housing needs for Navajo people.

“We trust the NHA staff will support the Commissioner’s decision and continue to do the best job in housing our Navajo people,” she stated. “We are hopeful for a purposeful transition.”

Henry’s appointment as Interim CEO begins Oct. 31 at 8 a.m.

He is expected to address the company Oct. 31 at 8:30 a.m. via Microsoft Teams. The video and microphone features will not be enabled, according to the IT manager Donald Noble Jr.

“The Board of Commissioners are committed and focused on searching for an optimal candidate that will move NHA to the next level; we will begin this search soon,” stated Yazzie.
